Pupils from Exeter School’s Year 9 German classes took part in a variety of competitions on the theme of presents organised by the Goethe Institut in the run-up to Christmas.

Two groups of pupils were commended for their entries: one group wrote the speech bubbles for a comic strip and won sunglasses; the other recorded a story and won earphones.

Both groups also received pencil cases with a variety of goodies inside.

Linguist Hannah Sheppard said the competition was a great opportunity and really fun.

Congratulations to all participants and well done to Hannah Sheppard, Saskia Healy, Amelia Woolway,Angus Harris and Andrew Donovan for their recorded reading of a text and Jamie Campbell, Francesca Giannachi-Kaye, Bethany Gribble, Isabelle Keswick, Tabitha Macpherson-Jorgensen, Dominic Reay,Magnus Threadingham and Ted Williams for their comic scripts.
