Exeter School pupil wins place at Salters' Chemistry Camp
An Exeter School pupil has won a place on a sought after Salters' Chemistry Camp.
Middle Fifth (Year 10) pupil, Rachel Broderick, has been selected to take part in the camp held at the University of Sussex this summer.
Head of Chemistry, Zoe Jarvis, said these places were very popular and Rachel had to complete a compelling application giving her reasons for wanting to take part in the camp. Rachel will spend several days in the labs, taking part in practical projects, using a range of undergraduate equipment and working with university postgrads and teachers.
She will be able use high specification equipment such as spectrometers as well as work and socialise with young people from across the country. Mrs Jarvis said: "This is an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the scope of undergraduate practical work, as well as offering the chance to stay in a university for three days."
Salters' Chemistry Camps are open to pupils at the end of their Middle Fifth (Year 10) year. Every summer, up to 20 camps take place at leading universities around the country. These are a great opportunity for any pupil who may be considering science, technology or medicine as a career.
