Record breaking results for Exeter School
Exeter School pupils, parents and staff are celebrating a record year for A Level results with an overall pass rate of 100% for the eleventh year in a row.
24% of all grades were A*, a record 66% of grades were either A* or A and a record 89% of all grades were A*, A or B.
41 pupils - almost half of Exeter School's Upper Sixth - achieved more than three A*/A grades this summer.
Among the high achievers, there were five who secured four A* grades each.
These top scorers are Jonty Bradley-Thrush (Maths at Gonville and Caius College Cambridge), Gwyneth Everson (Classics at St Hilda's College, Oxford), Joe Russell (Chemistry at Durham), Michael Twomey (Natural Sciences at Durham) and Michael van de Noort (Engineering at St Catherine's College, Oxford).
Seven pupils attained three A* grades including Deputy Head Girl Tilly Gilbert who was recently presented with the Jack Sadler Award for outstanding contribution to the Combined Cadet Force (CCF). A talented singer, she is going to read English at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford.
Cricket commentator and Powderham Castle guide Dan Armstrong is going to read History at Downing College, Cambridge.
Talented singer, star of the School's production of 'An Italian Straw Hat' and participant in the Ten Tors 55-miler, Freddie Crowley is applying to read Music at Oxford.
Matthew Carrington (Maths at Durham), Bilal Korimbocus (Medicine at Queen's University, Belfast) and Alfie Norton (Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence at York) also secured their places at university. House of Commons intern Ben Zeman intends to apply to read PPE at Oxford.
Exeter School is proud of its medics, sportswoman Lauren Dixie (Sheffield) and Senior Prefect and rower Emily Boother (Imperial College London) for securing their places.
Sixteen pupils undertook the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) at AS level of whom eight scored A* and seven scored A grades.
Headmaster Bob Griffin said "This is a record set of A Level results for the School, from a very talented and industrious year group which has distinguished itself in every sense. The majority of our young people are heading to the universities of their choice, mainly in the Russell Group. I congratulate all our pupils and staff on these significant achievements."
