Age UK Exeter is encouraging older people interested in local history to attend a ‘pop-up’ events that they are running in and around Exeter, dates can be found on our website www.ageuk.org.uk/exeter/

The events taking place will see Age UK Exeter staff and volunteers use technology, such as tablets, to explore local history and they need locals to help contribute.

The sessions, funded by Google, will give people the opportunity to explore local history, reminisce about songs, films, books, shows or images and learn more about technology in the process.

For those interested, the Charity will be following-up with drop-in computer sessions where people will be able learn about how to use computers, tablets and other technology for all kinds of hobbies, from ancestry to gardening.

Dawn from Age UK Exeter said: “Technology can make a real difference to people’s lives from allowing people to keep in touch with loved ones to pursuing hobbies. However, we know that sometimes people can question the point about using technology like computers when they have gone their whole lives without them. The session will give people an opportunity to explore local history, using technology to do so.”

The event are made possible through grant funding from Google. In 2013, Age UK was a finalist in the Google Global Impact Challenge.
