Speed into summer at Killerton’s classic car day
Petrol heads can get their fill of vintage vehicles this spring at Killerton, when over 400 classic car enthusiasts take a pit stop in the historic parkland to showcase their polished pride and joys.
The roaring event takes place on Sunday 14 May at the Killerton Estate, just outside of Exeter. With a backdrop arguably as beautiful as the auto motives, visitors can cruise into summer by admiring hundreds of classics while soaking up the surrounding cared-for landscape.
Buttercup, a 1950’s yellow truck, will also be making a special guest appearance with the vintage vocal trio, ‘The Liberty Sisters’, who will serenade visitors from their quirky mobile stage.
Tim Harris, Visitor Experience Manager says: ‘There’s no better way to get on course for summer than by stopping by our classic car event. It’s a great day for the whole family, with an electrifying atmosphere whether or not you’re a car enthusiast.’
Tim continues: ‘The National Trust is a charity, and money raised from events like these help us to fund vital conservation work at Killerton. This year, we’re raising money to fix the mansion’s leaky roof. There will be the chance to buy a raffle ticket on your visit, and not only could you win £10,000, but every penny raised will go towards our fundraising target.’
As well as a variety of music performances, there will also be over 60 stalls selling arts and crafts, in addition to traders from Killerton’s monthly farmers’ market. Adults can enjoy sampling Killerton Estate cider at the bar, while kids can let off steam on the bouncy castle.
Entry to the event also includes access to the house, garden, parkland and Killerton’s cafes and award-winning restaurant. Explorer maps are available on site for visitors to make the most of the vast estate.
