Keeping in good health isn’t just a matter of eating the right food, and sleeping enough, although that's a good start. Feeding your brain and your imagination is equally important. It’s not enough to get up early in the morning, have fruits for breakfast and stick to a healthy diet. If you spend hours on the internet, the truth of the matter is, you'll be drained of energy and motivation to do anything.

Being healthy in body and mind involves looking at several aspects of your life, from your food to your exercise regimen, even to how you sleep and how many miles you walk. There are many ways to go about it, and we've selected some of the best books to read on the topic.

Boundless by Ben Greenfield

Here is a very interesting book by the well renowned author, Ben Greenfield. If there’s one thing that the movie Lucy by Luc Besson captured well, it’s the fact that every person would love to be limitless in their lives. The ability to immediately understand the most complex things, the ability to climb mountains like you had mountain goat genes running through you is something that everyone dreams of experiencing, at least once in their lives.

This is a book that takes an objective look at how to improve function through various spheres of your body; from upgrading your brain, to optimising how well your body operates under different conditions. The entire aim of this is to achieve peak body and mind performance, as well as increase your longevity.

Tenerife and Its Six Satellites or The Canary Islands Past and Present by Olivia M.Stone

This is little gem of a book made this list for its ability to take one on a wonderful journey from the comfort of your own home. And it's not from 2020, but rather..1880! Written by Olivia Stone it's a travel journal, a diary about her six month visit to the Canary Islands, especially Tenerife. She was following her barrister husband and produced an extraordinarily full and detailed account of the Islands, their inhabitants, their scenery, vegetation, towns and villages. She writes with a unique detailed and humorous style that is very enjoyable. A magical Victorian travel book.

In the FLO by Alisa Vitti

This book was specifically written to help women achieve their best form by tailoring a nutrition plan that takes into consideration one of the things that defines a woman; the menstrual period.

During this cycle, the natural hormones of the body tend to take a toll, and with poor nutrition, it becomes difficult to handle issues such as PMS and other hormone related conditions.

This book is first and foremost, an educational tool to help women better understand their bodies. It is with this knowledge that they can then start to see where the problems are, and how to manage, or completely improve those issues. This process of bettering oneself according to the knowledge of the body has been referred to as “biohacking.”

Body Love Every Day by Kelly Leveque

This is an excellent book by an author and nutritionist you may know from bestseller 'Fab Four': Kelly Leveque. In Fab Four, she illustrates how to use four different nutrients, fiber, fat, protein and greens to help maintain a balanced diet for every body type, metabolism, and diet preference.

This new book explores different meal plans based on four different archetypes of eaters that she has come up with. These archetypes cover a large majority of the known eaters and the meal plans that will help these archetypes achieve the healthiest versions of themselves possible.
