The Big Noise Chorus invites the people of Exeter to watch them perform this Friday at The Great Hall in Exeter University to raise money for the WESC Foundation and Exeter Leukaemia Fund. The Big Noise Chorus is a choir like none other, as they believe it’s not your singing ability that makes you a perfect candidate for their choir, but a passion for music.

Colin Rea, the Musical Director of the choir, said: ‘’ What's most appealing for me (when talking about a candidate) is passion for music and a desire to sing.’’

The Big Noise Chorus has choir groups across Devon, in locations such as Plymouth, Exeter, and Torquay.

The concert on Friday will consist of 240 singers from The Big Noise Chorus group. Another unique aspect of the group is there is no ‘textbook’ member. Mr Rea said:’’ It does not matter to me what race, religion, gender (including transgender) or sexuality people are. The vision behind Big Noise was to bring together people who wouldn't normally associate with each other to create harmony and a sense of community together.’’

The idea for the group began back in 2009 when Mr Rea took over conducting a gospel choir. He wanted to create a business that would make a difference; hence all of The Big Noise Chorus’ performances raise money for charity.

The choir has gone from strength to strength ever since. The group is now so sought after that those who want to join the choir must even join a waiting list.

This week The Big Noise Chorus opens their doors, and their lungs, to the people of Exeter, for a special performance to raise money for a special cause.

Those lucky enough to be in the audience are in for a treat. Mr Rea said: ‘’Audiences can expect a night of beautiful, soulful harmony from a 300-strong choir singing pop, rock and jazz. Prepare to hear songs from the Beach Boys to Christina Perri, K T Tunstall and Jason M'raz. ‘'

As well as enjoying all that the Big Noise Chorus has to offer, audiences will also get to watch the Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra perform.

If you have ever belted out a song in your car (and we know you have) then this event is for you. Come along, sing along, and raise money for brilliant local charities too.
