Homecoming concert to light up Exeter Fringe Festival
The inaugural Exeter Fringe Festival will be brought to a dynamic conclusion by an act described recently by BBC Radio 2 as “Two of the most extraordinary musicians, a phenomenal duo”.
On 4th August, East Devon born India Electric Company will headline at the 19th century built Barnfield Theatre bringing to end a diverse and exciting festival that will encompass over 100 performances across the city.
Using traditional instruments in contemporary styles, exploring diverse themes from Eastern Europe, Irish traditions and modern urban alienation the duo comprising of Joseph O’Keefe and Cole Stacey have been extensively supporting and accompanying Midge Ure throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Scandinavia in the last 18 months.
“It’s certainly exciting to be part of this unique festival that will be a tremendous addition to Exeter and the South West. It will be a special night for us given the role rural traditions in Devon and folk songs have played in the material we have released over the last two years. Most importantly we get to visit the fantastic Exploding Bakery!” said singer and mandolin player Cole Stacey.
Tickets sales have been unprecedented in what will be the duo’s only concert in Devon until 2020 before they head off on tour taking in eleven different countries and a much anticipated second album.
The festival itself takes place at the Barnfield Theatre and Exeter Phoenix featuring Fringe Theatre, Family Theatre, Comedy, Music, Dance, Cabaret, Spoken Word and even a magician.
