Ladies and gentlemen of Exeter, the Star Wars trailer has been released. If you go and see The Avengers: Age of Ultron next week then you will be able to see it on the big screen (A:AoU is showing at the Vue Cinema). We have now seen much of what is to come from the latest edition in the Star Wars saga, including watching the millennium falcon fighting off some tie fighters in classic style.

At the Star Wars celebration this week J.J Abrams and co showed off a brand new trailer for their hotly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens, in which we get a voice over from Luke Skywalker himself and a glimpse of Darth Vader’s melted and molten mask. The whole thing is packed with shots to make any Star Wars fan go wild and this is no exception. Seeing all of the main new characters in action was expected as well as seeing R2D2 from the returning cast, John Boyega’s Finn was shown off in true style, Daisy Ridley’s Rey featured mostly alongside him in the shots she was in and Oscar Isaac looks like the new Han Solo (although there is one and one only Han Solo) riding around having fun an a newly designed X-wing.

Then we get to the bad guy Kylo Ren, hotly rumoured to be Adam Driver behind a metal mask, dressed in all black robes and with that cross-guarded lightsaber looking like a deadly new foe. But the new characters we know of are not what the fans want to see most, whilst there was a glimpse of (now) Queen Leia (Carrie Fisher) and brother Luke reaching for R2D2 with his old mechanical hand, there was on shot that sent fans insane….As his voice began to talk they quickly appeared, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), who let lose his trademark roar, graced our screen for a few seconds as Solo says the words “Chewie We’re home”. Just like that moment in the first trailer when the Falcon first appeared it sent fans reeling, having not seen Ford as Solo in 32 years or Peter Mayhew as Chewie it was a moment to behold.

In the coming months until the release of The Force Awakens, December 18th in case you didn’t know, we will see more of our aged and favourite heroes return in trailers yet to be released but for now Star Wars seems just that little bit to long away, after all we have a while summer and autumn to get through first.
