Audiences in Exeter are being treated to a sensational live music and dance performance from Club Cairo as the group’s spectacular Middle Eastern production  ‘The Serpent Slayer’ arrives in town. The show promises audiences a true spectacle, in which they will be transported to exotic lands. The show tells the touching story of two sisters on a magical quest, showing how hope can shine through the darkest skies. The cast of dancers and musicians combine poetic verse and multimedia projections to create a world of magic and fantasy.

Following The Serpent Slayer, the entertainment continues in the form of a live and light hearted set of traditional songs played by Club Cairo's music ensemble who will be accompanied by a dazzling array of belly dancers including local dancers who come and join the performance, making it a real community event bringing people together to draw on a feast of global delights. The show is unique and greatly enhanced by an incredible live soundtrack with interaction between musicians and dancers playing an integral part of the performance.

Since 2010, Club Cairo has been performing their own unique celebration of music and dance from across the Middle East and beyond. The company specialises in creating a sense of wonder, garnering rave reviews with sell out shows. Core Producer Carmen Jones has been working with musicians regularly teaching and performing for many years in UK and abroad including Ibiza, Turkey and Egypt. Music, Dance, theatre and Vibrant Visuals combine to create a captivating display straight from the heart of the Middle East and she has drawn on her experiences to create a show that is fuelled by her passion and understanding of these art forms. She says:

“I love celebrating different cultures and sharing the vibrant music and dance from far-away places. My real passion is performing with live music. It is hard to describe the effect of the fusion of the dancers with the musicians, yet it is truly a beautiful thing to behold.”

Carmen has performed on several occasions with Hossam Ramzy and his Ensemble, with the Brothers of the Baladi and several UK based bands who play music from the Middle East and the Balkans. She has also travelled internationally with her work including Egypt, Turkey Ibiza and Norway.
