Theatre world premier comes to Exeter
After a sold-out performance of The Tempest in October 2016, Untold Theatre return to the Cygnet Theatre in January 2017 with an exciting new production.
The Ghosts of Mr Dickens charts the infamous author’s voyage to America, where he becomes plagued with visions and visitors from the spirit world.
Figures from his life appear alongside characters from his stories. As reality blurs into fiction, much like Ebenezer Scrooge, the author is compelled to revisit the sins of his past.
Known for their “innovative projections” (The Scotsman) and “strong creative vision” (Everything Theatre), Untold Theatre are back to deliver another bold performance.
“This play portrays two incarnations of the writer struggling against one another,” say the show’s producers. “It’s about the actual man versus the legend he wishes to survive beyond the grave. He is forced to confront the reality of his upbringing, and the ways he hurt those he loved – especially the women in his life.”
The Ghosts of Mr. Dickens will perform at the Cygnet Theatre on Tuesday 10th January 2017. Live performance and digital projections will combine to explore the life of Charles Dickens: the characters he created - and the ones that created him. Tickets are available directly from the venue.
