The Mysterious Vanishment of Pobby and Dingan
Adapted from the short story, Pobby and Dingan, by Ben Rice, The Mysterious Vanishment of Pobby and Dingan will be coming to the Northcott Theatre this Sunday and is recommended for children of nine and over. The Stage said of it "This Tasmanian writer has a quirky, audacious, wonderfully unfettered way of looking at life'.
The storyline is based around Kellyanne’s best friends, Pobby and Dingan. Her big brother Ashmol hates them. They’re invisible and they make her act weird. Everyone thinks she’s a fruitloop and it’s no fun having a fruitloop for a sister in Lightning Ridge.
Then Pobby and Dingan go missing and Kellyanne starts to get sick. It’s up to Ashmol to find them before she fades away completely, but where do you start looking for something you can’t even see?
Based on Ben Rice’s acclaimed debut novel about how Ashmol's mission to save his family unites an outback opal-mining community, this is a funny and heartbreaking story about love, trust and the enduring power of the imagination.
The Mysterious Vanishment of Pobby and Dingam has been written by Finegan Kruckemeyer, the multi-award-winning young Australian playwright whose play The Tragical Life of Cheeseboy toured the UK recently to great acclaim.
