Portrait workshop to help raise funds for Poltimore House
Amateur photographers will have a chance to learn how to take eye-catching portraits from Devon-based professional Guy Newman (www.GuyNewman.co.uk) who has photographed Prime Ministers, Royals and celebrities during his 25-year career.
The ‘Family Photography for Beginners’ workshop, which will help raise funds for Poltimore House, is for anyone who would like tips on how to take better photographs of family members, including children. It will be led by photographer Guy Newman who runs a corporate and commercial business from his professional studio at Broadclyst near Exeter. Following formal training as a newspaper photographer, Guy has worked in the south west and across the UK on assignments for national newspapers and magazines; photographing a host of leading figures and well-known personalities including Prince Charles, Tony Blair and celebrity chef Rick Stein.
Guy said: “Digital cameras have opened up the world of photography to a much wider audience and although it is actually much easier to take an image, the end result will always be much improved through learning skills like composition and how to use light properly.”
The photography workshop is supporting the restoration of historic Devon landmark, Poltimore House which dates from the 1550s but fell into disrepair in the late 1980s. Guy, has been following efforts to restore Poltimore House since moving to neighbouring Broadclyst 10 years ago and is donating his time to the Friends of Poltimore House, a charity formed in 2004 to support the restoration.
The photography workshop will be held on June 29th in the Studio at Poltimore House from 2 – 5pm and costs £8 per person to include refreshments. To book a place on the workshop visit http://ph20130629.eventbrite.co.uk/
