A day or weekend of foraging and learning Bushcraft skills on the river.

A Touch of the Wild will be joining the team at Winding River Canoe for some epic paddling on the beautiful River Dart, stopping enroute to forage for shellfish and other wild foods to cook up at lunchtime over the campfire.

There will be opportunities to learn some key bushcraft skills, including how to light a fire without matches, and have a go at some natural crafts and cordage.

During the weekend trip you'll stop in the evening at a secret spot by the water's edge to set up camp. Experience the magic of a night walk to call owls and spot bats, concluded by stories and a nightcap around the campfire. In the morning you'll enjoy the symphony of nature with a dawn walk and breakfast around the fire. After this you'll slowly make our way back to civilization feeling revived after our immersion in the natural world.

No previous canoeing experience necessary but participants must be able to swim.

Here's a review from last years trip:  "Paddled out of Totnes, down to Dittisham for a beach picnic and crabbing, then back up to camp in a BEAUTIFUL wildflower meadow overlooking the river. After wild food foraging for fat hen, samphire and oysters.. we went swimming..and enjoyed sunset with a bottle of plonk and hot chocolate - jolly good time all round".
