Bake Off's best bits at Magdalen Chapter
Wednesday saw the return of BAFTA award-winning, BBC smash hit, The Great British Bake Off. To coincide with its eagerly awaited arrival, The Magdalen Chapter in Exeter is to recreate the star bakes as featured on the previous evening’s show.
Each Thursday, following its screening the night before, pastry chefs at The Magdalen Chapter are giving local fans the chance to try the show’s delicious cakes and bakes for themselves. The hotel’s Head Chef or ‘Master Baker’ Ben Bulger and his team will be whipping up a Cake of the Day inspired by Series 5.
General Manager Fiona Moores, from The Magdalen Chapter, said: “Our staff and customers are real fans of Bake Off and throughout the series we love nothing more than challenging ourselves to take on the recipes. From watching the struggles the show’s contestant’s experience, our guests can certainly appreciate the skill and patience these delicious delicacies take to create. So save yourselves the messy kitchen and overflowing sink of washing up and taste our creations.”
Kicking off the 11 part series, Episode One saw Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry welcome 12 new bakers including the show’s youngest-ever and oldest contestant. As they entered the tent for the first time, bakers took on the challenges of Cake week, tackling their first Signature Challenge of a swiss roll, Technical Challenge of a classic Cherry Cake and Showstoppers of classic British cakes in perfect miniature.
The Great British Bake Off is the ultimate baking battle where passionate amateur baking fans compete to be crowned the UK’s Best Amateur Baker. Over the course of 11 hour-long episodes, the series follows the trials and tribulations of the competitors, young and old, from every background and every corner of Britain as they attempt to prove their baking prowess. Each week the bakers tackle a different baking skill, which become progressively more difficult as the competition unfolds.
