Hunters Ales have brewed a special fiery beer for Powderham Food Festival.

Fire King, an amber beer, lightly hopped to allow the hot chilli flavours to zing out, complements the chargrilled flavours of barbecue food.

The bottles have been specially brewed by Hunters and will raise money for The C Group Royal Marines charity. A donation from each bottle sold will go to their fund, inspiring business to support marines in need.

Award-winning Hunters Ales have a reputation for superb and innovative brewing and Fire King is another winner.

Just like the Royal Marines it’s tough and only available only at Powderham Food Festival on Saturday (4 October) for now.

The Royal Marines will be demonstrating their superb field cooking skills at the festival on their Operational Field Cookset.

The C Group is a unique charity that seeks to connect the Royal Marines with the business community, to benefit both parties in equal measure.

The charity supports Royal Marines whose military careers have ended prematurely due to injury; supports serving and former Royal Marines, their families and dependents who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress; and, provides a free of charge recruitment service to businesses who wish to recruit former Royal Marines and optimise their hard learnt skills and attributes in the corporate environment.

A recent example of the one of the charity’s success stories can be found with ex-marine Damian S who left the Royal Marines on medical discharge.  He had begun to forge himself a career in maritime security, but found that this was perhaps not quite as secure or challenging as he had hoped.  He came to The C Group for help and guidance and they were able to link him with Pipex px, a forward-thinking engineering and manufacturing company based in Plymouth.

“The C Group and Pipex px had the vision to see that I had transferable skills from my military career which could be employed in the commercial world.” explained  Damian S. rap text

Following this week-long trial, he was offered a three month contract in a Project Management role, which will hopefully lead to a successful and fruitful career, working with this expanding and open-minded organisation. Thanks to the support of the C Group Damian is now in a position, after a period of work experience, to look forward to a challenging new career.
