What’s all the fizz about? The potential of prosecco
Join the Prosecco DOC’s UK Ambassador Neil Phillips , The Wine Tipster, for ‘What’s All The Fizz About?’, an informative and fun virtual tasting on Friday 11th September from 7 – 8pm to explore and taste the UK’s favourite bubbles.
Tickets for the evening wine and food tasting, which is taking place in association with South West Wine School on Larks.live, are £30.00 per screen booked. For the ticket price each guest will receive a delivery of the three Prosecco DOC wines that will feature in the tasting together with the Prosecco DOC brochure leaflet. The wines can be delivered within a 25 mile radius of Exeter on Wednesday 9th September
Neil will lead Aperitivo Hour as he digs beneath the fizz and the froth of Prosecco on an evening dedicated to the UK's most popular Sparkling wine. This hugely popular fizz from North-East Italy has become synonymous with joy, celebration and 'La Dolce Vita' (The good life). We spend more on Prosecco in the UK than any other Sparkling wine and this informal and fun tasting will reveal the secrets behind Prosecco's success.
Neil says: ‘I am thrilled to be joining a South West audience. Prosecco is a case history of a wine region in constant change and evolution between tradition and innovation. Discover the latest from the Prosecco DOC as you taste your way through delicious Proseccos from three different producers, featuring two brut and one extra dry Prosecco. You'll learn about the different styles of Prosecco including spumante, frizzante and colfondo’.
Neil will also explain what's going on in the region including:
- Aperitivo Time
- Organic Prosecco DOC wines and Prosecco DOC wines suitable for vegans
- Sustainability in Prosecco DOC
- The launch of Prosecco DOC Rosé in early 2021!
- The new Zero and Extra Brut categories
- Visiting Proseccoland, the producers and staying in Treviso, the home of Tiramisu.
The tasting will be packed with tips on how to pair Prosecco with food and here are some ideas for your pairings for Aperitivo Time:
- Antipasti with Parma Ham/Prosciutto, Salami Milano and Napoli, Pepperoni and Grana Padano cheese.
- Grana Padano cheese, the youngest style is over 9 months, which is great, however if shopping at a deli ask for over 16 months or the Riserva. The creamy character and weight of flavour of Grana Padano works really well with Prosecco.
- Mini pizzas of all different styles work well. Vegan pizzas.
- Sushi works well too. Know you are chopping and changing with flavours here, but the freshness of the Proseccos really works well with the raw fish and sauces.
- Seafood prawn or shrimp or a crab salad goes well too, providing you keep the dressing to a light touch. Vegetable rice salad or Avocado Salad with Spicy Sesame- Tamari Granola. The freshness, acidity and light style of the Proseccos will work well.
Co-founder of South West Wine School, Jonathan Reynolds says: “It is superb to be working with Neil again. It’s marvellous to have tempted him back to the South West and it is going to be an evening that all bubbles drinkers in the region should hastily put in their diaries and book in good time as it really is an opportunity not to be missed.”
