All of us have tried out styling ourselves at home one time or another. Be it with beauty products or simple hairstyling techniques, there’s always a good chance of something going wrong in the way when you do it without professional help. With this quarantine going on for so long and salons shut down for good, people have been trying numerous beauty procedures at home and let’s just say not everything turned out as they expected it to be! 1. Haircut gone wrong
Who among us hasn’t had the craving to cut their own hair? To save money from visiting the barber or just for the fun of it? What better time to experiment during the lockdown when barber shops are closed. But don’t be so sure as a single misstep can lead you to a world of hurt, the same happened to this random guy on twitter who tried shaving their hair and then posted the hilarious abomination on twitter. Although the haircut was very unattractive it resulted in the entertainment of thousands of people so we can’t deem it completely useless.
2. Nail Fail
Every girl dreams of having their nails done all the time but what happens when you have always had your nails done from an expert and want to give it a shot yourself? Even though it’s safe to get acrylics as often as you want, the method itself is not that simple. Wishing Ale Larios had known that sooner who tried to do her own nail acrylics and the results were nothing like you would see at a beauty salon.
3. Dye your Hair – Never!
Spending so much time at home alone and constantly scrolling through your Instagram feed can definitely make you want to experiment something new and trendy. This random lady on Instagram shared her experience of messing around with hair dyes and ended up having two entirely different shades instead of a delicate ombre!
4. Waxing Disaster
Following an at-home beauty routine can be fairly challenging as most people are unaware of their skin types and what products are best suitable for them or how to handle them. Luluylala shared a photo on Instagram showing how she accidentally burnt her upper lips trying to wax and it is funny how we have all been there some day or another.
5. Corona Cut
As we might think it’s just adults finding something to do at home out of boredom or just for the sake of some fun, it is not entirely true! Kids have come up with some hilarious fails as well, as told by a mom on twitter whose son cut his hair while playing around with scissors! He ended up having a bald spot right in the middle which even though didn’t last long was still pretty funny.
6. Marker Moustache
Who said you can never look bad when you have a partner who is also a beautician? Consider the dyeing mishap Ethan had to go through when he asked his beautician girlfriend to give his perfect blonde beard and moustache a tinge of darker shade to make it look thicker and fuller. Unfortunately, his girlfriend dyed his skin instead of the beard, giving him a very funny look. So that is one way to get a beard. If you can’t grow one just draw it from a sketchy!
7. Nose Hair Wax Fail
There are plenty of fantastic home waxing kits for those of us who are brave enough to wax. Perhaps the results are not always silky smooth, but very decent! However, things could go wrong, as this brave woman discovered when she tried an ill-advised nose hair wax. She struggled to pull out the hair wax which even though looked entertaining might also be very painful. So make sure you get the right waxing kit and know the instructions beforehand or you will end up just like her.
8. Drunken Mess
A few drinks wouldn’t hurt anybody and can actually help you ease off. Sometimes, however, you may get too far too fast without even realising it! Brodie, for example, took to twitter to share an image of his roommate who got so drunk and tried to cut his own hair. Some people can’t even do it right when they are sober so imagine giving yourself a treat when you are drunk!
9. Tuesday Trim Fail
Imagine being a kid with flawless hair and having them chopped off by your parents because you desperately needed a trim. Jennifer posted a photo of her little boy where she had trimmed his hair at irregular lengths and immediately regretted the decision. Despite of the kid’s new hair being unappealing.
10. Eyebrow Disaster
A perfectly shaped and filled-in eyebrow can give every woman a bold and killer look. Whilst some women are naturally blessed with fine eyebrows, others have to go a long way to achieve the same look. Yes, we’re talking about eyebrow pencils, tints and gels to give yourself the darker, fuller-looking eyebrows you've always wanted! Sharon similarly posted on YouTube how she wished to create the same look on her 30th birthday but it went terribly wrong. She ended up having ginger coloured eyebrows which couldn’t even low down to a lighter shade after using all sorts of makeup removers. Sharon surely had a memorable 30th!
