The Skin Angels advise outdoor workers on year-round sun protection
Autumn is now upon us and for those who have no choice but to be working outside all day, the Skin Angels, by Purity Boutique Spa, are offering valuable sunscreen advice.
On Tuesday 17 September they were on-hand, with rugby player Carl Rimmer from Exeter Chiefs, to rescue some lucky builders from the damaging rays of the sun. The team helped them to apply sun cream and educated them on the importance of sun protection, even during the autumn and winter months.
Carl comments: "‘I am proud to be supporting the Skin Angels in their campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of the sun. As a rugby player I spend a lot of time outdoors and I know that harmful rays can damage the skin even on a cloudy day."
People who work outdoors for a living (builders, gardeners, farm workers etc.) are exposed to the sun much more often than the average person and have an increased risk of developing skin cancer. Wearing SPF 15 or higher is crucial for them, in order to prevent skin damage.
Sun damage often doesn't show up until after the age of 40 and usually not until the age of 60+, so even if you don't see the damage, it is already there. For this reason, it is important to start wearing daily sun protection no matter what age you are.
Skin cancer can be prevented; the Skin Angels come armed with an arsenal of Environ sun creams (their recommended brand) for people to try.
Environ's range of sun creams are effective for protecting against UVA and UVB rays and they are even safe for young children and babies, alleviating fears about chemicals being absorbed into their skin.
