This is a blog written by a recent client addition at PFP, Katie Reeves. On an initial consultation and body fat test (Biosignature) we discussed how some ingredients in certain beauty products can cause a hormonal imbalance.

She has done her own research to confirm the toxic effects of some of these products for herself. She does a pretty good job here of explaining her own findings and her new ‘natural skin care routine’. As an gentleman of a certain era I find the phase ‘skin care routine’ a tad baffling so am very grateful to her for writting this…

The less ingredients the better – We wouldn’t eat Carboxymethylcellulose so why would we lather it over our bodies? Like your food, don’t eat it if you don’t understand what it means! It is unlikely to be natural, and therefore unlikely to be good for you.
Avoid Parabens like the plague. Parabens are chemicals used as preservatives and mimic the hormone estrogen, which is known to play a role in the development of breast cancers. Excessive oestrogen is a huge problem in our society, and just one of the many problems include a lowering of metabolism. Oestrogen can also be produced by enzymes made by adipose (fat) tissue that convert other hormones into oestrogen, thereby accelerating the obesity and the oestrogen excess! Therefore if you are fighting the flab, it’s not just about what you eat and how you exercise, but what other toxins you are in contact with that may be contributing to fat gain.
