New research from the team at Globehunters has revealed which airport lounges are the cheapest and most expensive airport lounges across the UK.

With more and more people jetting off on holiday each year, the report highlights where travellers can save the most money, whilst benefiting from the comfort of an airport lounge before their flight.

The Top Five Cheapest Lounges

Airport lounges are a great way to take a load off and enjoy a bite to eat and a drink before boarding a plane, but the cost can be off-putting. However, in many cases, airport lounges can actually be more affordable than buying food and drink at the airport!

Derry Airport’s Amelia Earhart Lounge has been revealed as the cheapest lounge in the UK, only costing travellers £12.50 to book and use its facilities.

Newquay Airport’s Executive Lounge comes in a close second, only setting travellers back £15, whereas the Isle of Man’s Rendezvous Executive Lounge is only £1.50 more expensive, costing travellers £16.50 to use.

Humberside Airport’s Aspire Lounge charges travellers £19.99 to kick back and relax before a flight, placing it fourth in these rankings, with Exeter, Norwich and Cardiff’s Executive Lounges costing travellers just a penny more at £20 to use their facilities.

Derry (Amelia Earhart Lounge) - £12.50

Newquay (Executive Lounge) - £15.00

Isle of Man (Rendezvous Executive Lounge) - £16.50

Humberside (Aspire Lounge) - £19.99

Exeter (The Executive Lounge) - £20.00

Norwich (Executive Lounge) - £20.00

Cardiff (Executive Lounge) - £20.00

The Top Five Most Expensive Lounges

On the other end of the scale, some airports are charging passengers large amounts to be able to relax in luxury before their flight. Some of the most expensive lounges are within the largest airports in the UK, which is, perhaps, unsurprising.

Here are the most expensive lounges:

London City (First Class Lounge) - £95.00

London Stansted (Escape Lounge - £30.00

Manchester (Escape Lounge (Terminals 1 & 2)) - £28.00

Belfast International (Causeway Lounge) - £27.50

Aberdeen (Northern Lights Lounge) -  £27.00

East Midlands (Escape Lounge) -  £27.00

London City Airport’s First Class Lounge will set travellers back a huge £95 to use their services. With benefits such as not having to queue, having baggage taken care of from arrival to departure, and a relaxing area to wait and an escort to your aircraft when it arrives, some passengers may be more than willing to pay this fee to ensure their travels start off without a hitch.

London Stansted’s Escape Lounge is much cheaper, but will still cost travellers £30 to use.

Manchester Airport’s Escape Lounge in Terminals 1 & 2 is a little cheaper, setting passengers wishing to relax away from the hustle and bustle back £28, placing it in third for the most expensive in the UK,

Belfast International’s Causeway Lounge costs £27.50, and Aberdeen’s Northern Lights Lounge and East Midlands Airport’s Escape Lounge will both cost travellers £27.00 to book.

Spiros Maragkoudakis, General Manager at Globehunters has commented on the research:

“While some of the biggest airports are, perhaps unsurprisingly, revealed as the most expensive when it comes to airport lounge prices, it’s great to see other airports such as Derry and Cardiff being named as some of the cheapest and making the option of a lounge more accessible.

While using an airport lounge is a luxury, it doesn’t mean that it has to be unattainable - and the top five cheapest in this list prove that it doesn’t have to be exclusive to those who have big bank balances to enjoy the benefits of these lounges.”
