Foreign and Commonwealth Office issue travel warning for Turkey
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has issued an advice notice for those intending to travel to Turkey: "Following recent demonstrations in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya, Adana and other cities across Turkey in which police have used tear gas and water cannons, further violent protests remain possible. We advise British nationals to avoid all demonstrations."
Meanwhile in other parts of the country the FCO advises against all but essential travel to the provinces of Hakkari, Sirnak, Siirt and Tunceli. "You should be especially vigilant when travelling in other provinces in south eastern Turkey and in areas in close proximity to the Syrian border."
