Innovative free gardening app launched at Toby’s Garden Festival
A unique way to discover the gardening community around you has been launched by Candide, an innovative gardening community app, at Toby’s Garden Festival. Places is the brand new and unique functionality which allows you to locate your nearest gardening centre or public garden wherever you are in the South West. This regional launch comes ahead of a national roll out at BBC Gardeners’ World Live in June.
Thousands of people visited Toby’s Garden Festival held at Powderham Castle in Exeter, where the Candide team were on hand to demonstrate the app and its full capabilities, which includes:
● Places - where users can find and follow public gardens and garden centres
● Knowledge - a comprehensive resource with information on plants, pests and how-to guides
● Discover - articles from the Candide team with ideas, tips and insights
● Feed - sharing and posting by users with tips, questions and information
Built by gardeners for gardeners, Candide is a growing movement that encourages us all to reconnect with our gardens, and share the joy of gardening. Candide believe that gardening is the root of all happiness and are passionate about the multiple benefits it can bring.
Visitors to Candide’s stand at the festival received a free fuchsia plug plant, and a mystery seeded flyer, ‘Showstopper’, to plant. The identity of the Showstopper is revealed in the app along with tips on how to grow. The team were also making flower crowns ahead of Somerset Garden Day on 13th May.
Commenting on the launch, Andrew Philbrook, Candide’s CEO, said:
“It was fantastic to see people’s reaction to our app demonstrations at Toby’s Garden Festival. There is truly nothing quite like it out there. Instantly, this is a useful tool for all gardener’s especially the Places functionality. There are lots of passionate gardeners out there of all capabilities and it’s clear that our app has something for everyone. We are really excited for the national roll out in June.”
Candide will be participating at BBC Gardeners’ World Live at the NEC on 14th - 17th June 2018. The Candide app is free to download for iOS and Android, for both smartphones and tablets. For more information, visit www.candide.eu or follow on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook.
