An introduction to British gas homecare
British gas homecare is an insurance cover scheme that insures home heating systems, gas boilers, and some other domestic appliances. When you install a central gas heating system in your house, you need to do regular servicing, maintenance, and overhaul to keep your heating system in shape. And individually these services can cost you a hefty amount to pay. British gas homecare schemes cover all of these aspects with a nominal yearly or monthly payment structure. Along with providing insurance coverage, they also supply energy and sell smart household products.
Pricing:
The charges for British gas homecare insurance packages depend on your area of living and your selection of additional services (excess) with the package. You can either opt for no excess or choose an excess amount up to £60. British gas homecare provides four different packages, commonly known as Homecare one, two, three, and four. Each package comes with a different price structure, making homecare one as least priced and homecare four as most priced. For all packages, you can either pay through monthly installments or choose one time yearly payment method. If you choose to pay by monthly installments, you have to pay a few euros extra. However, after the completion of 12 months, when the time comes to renew the insurance, they tend to increase the cost drastically.
Inclusions:
All packages provided by British gas homecare include yearly boiler service and a customer care helpline that operates 24*7 around a year. Additionally, homecare package one covers boiler repairs and breakdowns, but to repair your central heating system, you have to pay extra. In homecare two, three, and four, you will also get a central heating breakdown cover. Along with these facilities, homecare three and four provide an additional cover for your house’s plumbing and drainage issues such as leakage, overflow, rainwater drain, etc. Homecare four has one more service added with these inclusions. It exclusively covers maintenance and reparation costs for electrical appliances, systems, and wiring. If it is found that a certain part cannot be repaired, then they replace it with no extra cost. Apart from choosing a specific package, you can also take any particular service individually.
Exclusions:
While it is vital to know what is included in your package, it is also equally vital to learn what is not included. Though the ‘terms and conditions’ handbook covers everything important thing you should know, in general, people do not have much time to go through those boring manuals. So, here we have highlighted a few important exclusions and restrictions in bullets for your better understanding.
- Though all homecare packages cover boiler servicing and repair, but to be eligible for this, your boiler has to be on the British gas permitted list and free from any pre-existing defects.
- In case of kitchen appliance cover, for the first 2 weeks, your package does not include any repair, accidental damage, or any kind of service. So, in actual, your plan starts after the 14 days of your documented policy starting date.
- British gas homecare does not cover any defects related to boiler design.
