Exeter-based mortgage broker, The Mortgage Quarter has launched its annual Christmas charity gift appeal, which this year will support seven local charities.

Now in its fourth year, The Mortgage Quarter is widening its campaign this year and calling on local residents and businesses to donate brand-new women's and children's clothes and gifts as well as toys.

Working in partnership with CoLab Exeter, the donations will be split between seven Exeter-based charities supporting children, domestic abuse survivors, families in temporary accommodation and Ukrainian refugees. The beneficiaries include RD&E Charity (Bramble Ward), Promoting Choice, Breathing Space, Conversation Café and More Positive Me.

In 2021, The Mortgage Quarter collected a whopping 2,500 toys during its Christmas toy appeal, but with more charities on the donation list, hopes to smash that amount this year!

James Miles, director at The Mortgage Quarter, commented, "Every year, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our community, and we hope this year will be no different.

"We have broadened our scope this year to benefit more families in need. So please support us in making a difference in their lives this Christmas."

Jo Cuthbertson, Learning Matters Lead at CoLab Exeter, added, "We are delighted to be partnering with The Mortgage Quarter again this year. This year more than ever, we are seeing more people in need of extra support.

"So many families, women and children are facing financial hardship, leading complex lives or have nowhere permanent to call home. Receiving gifts will really help to spread a little more joy this Christmas. Everyone deserves a gift. Last year's toy appeal was incredible, and so many children benefitted. It would be great to support even more people this year during these difficult times!"

The Mortgage Quarter is accepting donations at its offices at 23 Richmond Road, Exeter, EX4 4JF, between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, from now until Friday, 16 December.

All donations must be unwrapped, new with tags, and toys should have a CE mark.
