Darts Farm Launches New Farm Table Restaurant
Family-run Darts Farm, based just outside Exeter, officially launched its brand new restaurant, The Farm Table, and its new Terrace Bar on Friday 15th July 2022, adding yet more reasons to visit this award-winning destination that celebrates local food and drink.
Initially, The Farm Table will serve up lunches and dinners from Friday to Sunday, using the best farm produce, cooked over fire and the Terrace Bar will provide the perfect venue for al fresco drinks and snacks.
Michael Dart, who runs Darts Farm alongside his two brothers, James and Paul, comments: “After a lot of successful trial events and some really helpful feedback from our wonderful community, we are delighted to have finally opened The Farm Table!
"The Farm Table is all about taking food off the farm and into the fire, celebrating the simplicity of beautiful ingredients grown, reared, caught and crafted on our doorstep.
"We aim to get as much from our farm onto your table as possible and if it’s not from our farm it’s from our vibrant community of like minded artisan producers, farmers and fisherman who share our passion for flavour.”
In the wood-fired oven, the team will be creating slow fermented sourdough pizza topped with world class artisan cheese and charcuterie from some of the best producers in the country.
Meanwhile, diners will choose from a huge selection of hand selected wines, beers, ciders and spirits from the cellar, including award-winning wines from Darts Farm’s own Pebblebed Vineyard and unique and ground-breaking small-batch ciders crafted in their on-site cidery by their in-house cidermaker, Barny from Sandford Orchards.
These fantastic tipples will also be available at the brand new Terrace Bar where visitors can sip a cool pre-dinner drink whilst soaking up the views across the estuary or settle in for an al fresco evening with a sharing platter or a freshly baked pizza.
From the pioneering ‘pick your own’ business set up in 1971 by the Dart brothers’ father, Ronald, Darts Farm has organically evolved to become a nationally award-winning shopping experience. In addition to the huge range of local and artisan produce on offer in the shop, there is an incredible range of dining opportunities. As well as the brand new Farm Table and Terrace Bar, customers can choose from an extensive menu in the traditional Darts Farm restaurant, indulge in waffles, homemade artisan gelato, bean to bar chocolate and wood fired pizzas in the Cow & Cacao café or grab a take away from the Fish Shed or The Shack.
There is an outdoor shop and a homeware department. Visitors can also reconnect with nature by winding their way through the vegetable fields and nature trail, watching their herd of native Ruby Red Devon cattle graze on the banks of the River Clyst, wildlife spotting in the bird hide overlooking the wetlands or by visiting the animals in ‘animal corner’. The adventurous can hire a bike and discover the beautiful views the Exe Estuary has to offer. Darts Farm is a place where you can spend the whole day.
The Farm Table officially opened last week and will be serving dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings and lunches on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Terrace Bar will be open Friday and Saturday evenings for snacks and drinks.
