Exeter businesses vote YES as BID secures another five-year term
Exeter city centre businesses have given a strong endorsement for InExeter, the Business Improvement District (BID), voting overwhelmingly in favour of renewing it for a third five-year term.
Results released today show 90% of participating businesses supported the BID's renewal, allowing for continued investment in city centre improvements and initiatives from April 2025 to March 2030.
Over a four-week voting period (24th October-21st November), levy-paying businesses were asked to back InExeter for another term, securing £2.8 million to be reinvested into Exeter’s city centre.Through levy contributions over the past decade, the BID has delivered transformative projects that make Exeter more vibrant, welcoming, and resilient.
A total of 334 businesses participated in the vote, achieving a 48% turnout. Of those who voted, 90% supported the BID by number, and96% by rateable value—an overwhelming show of confidence in InExeter's future.

Looking ahead, InExeter plans to channel the £2.8 million investmentinto a range of focused projects designed to enhance the safety and appeal of Exeter’s daytime, evening, and night time economies. Key areas include continuing to invest in the new Community Safety Teamas well as maintaining the popular seven-day street cleansing service, festive lighting, greening initiatives and 10 new street art projects. By continuing to celebrate Exeter’s unique character and supporting local business ambitions, InExeter is poised to help create an even brighter future for the city.
