Ashill Inn support Headway Devon
A local pub has raised a fantastic £510 for local people with brain injuries following their Christmas draw.
The Ashill Inn in Cullompton decided to support Headway Devon following the experiences of two of their regular customers, Anne and Dave Brummitt. The couple have been supported by the charity after Dave sustained a brain injury in 2016. Anne commented “We are very grateful to the Ashill Inn for raising this money, and to Headway Devon who are a real lifeline for us.”
Sarah and Jenny from the Ashill Inn visited Headway Devon’s day centre in Exeter to present the cheque and find out more about the work that the charity does.
Sarah and Jenny said “We are very grateful to the businesses, suppliers and individuals who donated prizes to the draw, including Teignworthy Brewery, Bay’s, Tolchards, Regency Wines, Veysey Butchers, Exeter Brewery, Kittow Cattle, Dartmoor Brewery, Newbrook Fish and Otter Brewrey. We are also very grateful to the generous locals and the customers who supported the draw by buying tickets.”
Headway Devon Fundraiser, Holly Keatings, said “We are delighted to be able to accept this cheque on behalf of local people with brain injuries. We were so pleased to hear that the Ashill Inn had raised so much money and are overwhelmed by the outstanding generosity of the pub and their customers and we would like to offer our most heartfelt thanks for this support.
“This donation is very gratefully received and the funds raised will be spent on supporting local people whose lives have been turned upside down by head injuries, strokes, meningitis, brain tumours and other kinds of acquired brain injury. In particular we plan to run some outings for the clients who attend our Exeter Centre to ensure that people with brain injuries are able to enjoy a good quality of life and make the most of the wonderful experiences and locations that our county has to offer.”
