Bishop Sarah appointed Hospiscare vice president
Hospiscare is delighted to announce that the Revd Dame Sarah Mullally, Suffragan Bishop of Crediton has become a Vice President of the local charity.
Bishop Sarah has a distinguished background in nursing being appointed the government’s Chief Nursing Officer in 1999.
Recently she visited Hospiscare’s Exeter hospice and subsequently agreed to take up the role of a Vice President.
“Hospiscare plays a special role in connecting with individuals and families and local communities,” said Bishop Sarah.
“The work of Hospiscare changes lives, offering quality care, dignity and compassion for people facing the end of life and I am delighted to be able to support them.”
Patrick Beasley, Hospiscare Chairman of Trustees, said: “Sarah will be an invaluable addition to our body of Vice Presidents and we very much look forward to getting to know her.”
Bishop Sarah was made Dame Commander of the British Empire in 2005 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to nursing and midwifery. She was ordained in 2001 and consecrated in Canterbury Cathedral in July this year and installed in Exeter in September.
Bishop Sarah will be joining Hospiscare’s current Vice Presidents; Dame Elizabeth Butler-Sloss, Dame Suzi Leather, Peter Morris and Jean Kingdon. Lady Clarissa Clifford is the charity’s Patron and John Searle is President.
