Devon Environmentalist to represent Great Britain at World Plogging Championships
A Future without Rubbish, which runs the Coastline runner initiative, and Planet Earth Games join forces to form GB Team for the World Plogging Championships 2024, which takes place in Genoa on 17 November 2024.
This international event brings together athletes from around the globe compete in this unique combination of fitness and environmental stewardship. The event, now in its fourth year, will feature the world’s top ploggers as they race through picturesque trails, while collecting litter along the way, demonstrating a commitment to both athletic excellence and ecological responsibility.
Support is coming in for GB Team from across the UK including England Athletics: Andy Anstey of England Athletics, said “We would like to wish team taking part in the World Plogging Championships loads of luck. Plogging is a brilliant way to take climate action whilst running and set a great example of how environmental sustainability can be part of sport. Well done to the representatives of our partners Planet Earth Games and A Future without Rubbish on flying the flag for the country in Italy on 17 November."
The team of four from Great Britain includes; Luke Douglas-Home (London), Chris Broadbent (Bovey Tracey, Devon), Cherelle Amos (Brent, London) and Claire Petrie (Bristol).
Luke said “Plogging is an innovative new sport that combines jogging and reducing pollution in our environment. For the second year running, I will be competing in the World Plogging Championships in Gandino, Italy. Let’s win this thing!“
Chris Broadbent, Founder, Planet Earth Games said: "Plogging is a such a brilliantly simple way of taking climate action while being physically active. We are thrilled to come together with A Future Without Rubbish to represent the country and add a little green to the red, white and blue flag for November's World Plogging Championships.

The World Plogging Championships 2024 is more than just a race; it's a global movement that combines fitness with environmental action.
