FORCE Cancer Charity rewarded in the Lloyds Bank Community Fund
FORCE Cancer Charity has been awarded £3,000 in the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2014 in Exeter.
Following votes from members of the public FORCE has been awarded a grant from Lloyds Bank to enable it to continue doing good work in the community.
FORCE has played a vital role in local cancer services for nearly 30 years. The charity believes that anyone diagnosed with cancer deserves the best possible treatment and professional support close to home.
Its work finances improvements in patient care through research, the purchase of advanced equipment and the Cancer Support and Information Centre in the grounds of the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.
“Everyone at FORCE was delighted by the outcome of the Lloyds Bank Community Fund. It is especially rewarding to know we have so many followers in the community we serve,” said the charity’s chief executive, Meriel Fishwick.
The Lloyds Bank Community Fund was set up to help local people across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and Isle of Man to have a positive impact at the heart of their community by giving grants to 1,400 local good causes in 350 communities.
Nearly 1.5 million votes were cast for good causes across the country during the voting that took place between September and 10 October 10. Over 700,000 people will be benefit either directly or indirectly from the good work the 1,400 good causes across the country will be able to deliver as a result of receiving a Community Fund 2014 award.
