Hospiscare talks on dying and grief
Hospiscare, the local charity, which runs Exeter’s hospice will be giving talks this month at the University of Exeter about dying and grief.
Everybody is welcome to attend the talk, from professionals working in these areas, to members of the public interested in finding out more.
Hospiscare’s education team leader David Rainbow will be giving the talks. The first talk on Monday 15 June, 2pm-4pm, at Reed Hall, is entitled: Why is it so difficult to talk about death and dying?
This will be a chance to share any concerns and fears we may have about having conversations with dying people and their families and carers. The second talk is entitled: Grief and loss - an introduction.
This is a short session on understanding about grief and loss, and providing an insight into supporting people who are grieving. Wednesday 17 June, 2pm-4pm, Reed Hall. Hospiscare is championing the campaign - Become a Dementia Friend!
This is an Alzheimer’s Society led initiative, funded by the Department of Health and Cabinet Office. It aims to increase dementia awareness and change the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about dementia and is part of the Prime Minister's Challenge on Dementia.
A Dementia Friend is someone who has attended a one hour information session and has committed to an action that will make the lives of people living with dementia a little bit better.
Anyone of any age can be a Dementia Friend. Thursday 18 June 2pm – 3.30pm, Reed Hall, Exeter. For more details please call David Rainbow on 01392 688036 or email: d.rainbow@hospiscare.co.uk.
