Local homebuilder supports Hospiscare’s Christmas tree recycling initiative

Devon homebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter is proud to announce its support for Hospiscare’s annual Christmas tree recycling initiative.

The housebuilder will be lending a hand to ensure the success of one of the charity’s key fundraising events, with sixteen members of staff volunteering during Thursday 9th and Friday 10th January 2025.

The initiative invites residents in Crediton, Exeter, Cullompton, Exmouth, Honiton, Tiverton, Sidmouth and Ottery St Mary to have their Christmas trees collected and recycled in return for a donation, with all proceeds going towards Hospiscare’s essential palliative and end-of-life care services for the local community.

Hospiscare volunteers will collect trees from homes which have pre-bookedtheir collection during the three-day campaign. Residents are asked to leave their trees outside by 8am on Thursday 9th January, clearly marked for ‘Hospiscare pick-up’ and free of all decorations. Artificial trees cannot be accepted.

Donations are not set, but the average donation is around £12. Residents can donate more to directly support the charity’s work. £43.58 funds an hour of care in Hospiscare’s Inpatient Unit, £36.58 funds an hour of specialist bereavement support and £96.52 funds a home visit by a Community Nurse Specialist.
