Local animal volunteer organisation, K9 Focus Dog Rescue in Devon, has been named ‘Animal Charity Team of the Year’ in the Petplan and Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) Animal Charity Awards.

In its third year, the awards celebrate the incredible work, dedication and commitment of animal charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands. The awards also identify animal charity teams, volunteers and employees that continuously go above and beyond in their mission to improve animal welfare.

The charity was set up by Lynne and Nick Hall with the aim of rescuing abandoned dogs in the local area. The pair also sought to increase public awareness of the plight of many dogs simply left in canine pounds. The charity is run entirely by volunteers, each of whom love to watch the dogs in their care develop into family pets.

On receiving the award, the charity explained: “We’re so thrilled to have received this award! It was exciting enough to be nominated, but to be singled out as Animal Charity Team of the Year is absolutely brilliant! It means everything to the team to have been nominated in the first place and to have won is just the icing on the cake.”

What really stood out to the independent panel of judges was the commitment to putting the animals at the heart of everything they do and the dedication to their welfare. K9 Focus Dog Rescue isn’t only about rescuing and rehoming dogs; they also work to educate the community around them about animal welfare.

In addition to winning the award, K9 Focus was also presented with a cheque for £1,500 from the Petplan Charitable Trust, which will be put to good use at their rescue in Devon.

Petplan’s Head of Marketing, Isabella von Mesterhazy, comments: “The Petplan and ADCH Animal Charity Awards create a fantastic way for us to support and recognise the teams and individuals at charities who are dedicated to improving the lives of animals. This year we received more than 5,000 nominations from adopters, supporters, charity staff and volunteers, so it’s a huge honour to announce the winners. All those who were nominated should feel incredibly proud of their achievement, a result of the tireless work they do to ensure the wellbeing of animals in their care. The winners are shining examples of those who continually strive to do more for animals every single day and we are delighted to congratulate them on their awards.”
