Riverford wins a staggering nine golds at national foodie event

Staff at national organic home delivery company Riverford are celebrating following a huge win at the 27th Soil Association Organic Food Awards. “Everything we grow and sell at Riverford is selected for flavour, and winning so many awards in a blind tasting reassures us that we’re hitting the mark,” said Riverford’s founding farmer and current BBC Farmer of the Year, Guy Watson.

Riverford started as a vegbox business but has been busy extending its food range to include picnic goodies, desserts and a creative new range of soups. “Enjoying and sharing good food is at the heart of everything Riverford does, and we hope these awards will help us spread the Riverford word to more even more people,” he continues.

The gold award winning products were Riverford’s Butternut Squash & Bacon Chowder, Chickpea, Cauliflower & Coconut Masala Soup, Vegetable Harira Soup, Seville Orange Marmalade, Homity Pie and Treacle Tart, all of which are handmade by the Riverford Kitchen. Gold winners in the fresh produce categories were their baby artichokes, mini cucumbers and carrots.

Over 500 entries were recorded in this year’s awards, where the expert judging panel included chefs, restaurateurs, food writers and specialists, alongside celebrity foodies and consumer judges.
