Exeter shoppers urged to get active
The Thrive Summer Series is heading to Princesshay this September offering shoppers a chance to have fun getting fit. The free one-day event is taking place from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 5 September as part of the nationwide tour. The Thrive team will be running activities to get shoppers moving.
The Thrive event aims to emphasise the fun side of getting fit and being active this summer. It is free for shoppers and visitors alike and a great chance to focus on healthy living, being more active, and connecting with the local community.
Princesshay Square will come alive with a host of activity featuring fun and motivating characters such as Wilma Whistle and Dr Spin who will be keen to get shoppers moving. As part of the day’s activities there will be an ‘Activate Area’ where local groups are invited to show off their fitness activity before inviting the crowds to give it a go.
For those who like life in the fast lane, the Thrive Cycle Challenge will provide a chance to pedal their way to prizes on a static bike. Better still, the national cycling charity, CTC will be live at Thrive sharing ideas on all beginners need to start cycling plus offering the option to sign up for a free Bikeability Level 1 session in the Exeter area on Sunday 27 September.
Hannah Milne, head of The Crown Estate’s regional portfolio said: “We are excited to launch the Thrive Summer Series which will create a sustainable and engaging event for the local community. This nationwide initiative will see a wide range of fun activities to promote an active lifestyle, health and wellbeing.”
Wayne Pearce, centre director of Princesshay said: “The Thrive Summer Series is going to be great fun, not only will visitors to Princesshay have the chance to take part in their favourite activities, there will be instructors on hand to help you try something new too.”
