Golfers lined up in the bright sunshine to take part in Exeter’s popular Marnie Burgoyne Memorial Golf Day.

Nearly 50 teams enjoyed a great day out and raised cash for us. The Exeter tournament is sponsored by John Burgoyne, who runs Burgoynes Estate Agents and the trophy is presented in memory of his mum, Marnie Burgoyne, who was one of the original Hospiscare fundraising committee members.

Our Hospiscare nurses cared for Marie in her own home and for the last ten days of her life they looked after her in the hospice.

The tournament, held at the Exeter Golf and Country Club, has raised a staggering £109,000 over 10 years and we’re hoping this year will add £10,000 to that figure.

Our head of fundraising, Katie Chantler, said: “We are so grateful to everyone who took part and to all the sponsors. It really is one of the highlights in the Exeter golfing calendar and a vital fundraising event for us.

"We are a local charity and rely on events like this to keep our doors open.” Hospiscare runs the city hospice in Dryden Road, has three day centres, employs 28 community nurses and provides other professional services across Exeter, East and Mid Devon.
