Music can help to elevate moods, decrease stress and provide motivation, and that’s why many head to music festivals when the season arrives. Music festivals done right can be brilliant for all involved. So that’s why it is essential that they are meticulously planned.

After organisers have spent time, money and effort on planning and hosting such a successful large-scale event, theycan sit back and enjoy the rave reviews. If they do not put in enough work, however, they can expect an outcome similar to the disaster of Fyre Festival. While it was the most talked about festival experience of 2017 – with celebrities such as Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin originally advertising it – it wasn’t because people had fun there. Festivalgoers were expecting gourmet food and luxury accommodation on a private island – instead they received tents with wet mattresses and pieces of plain bread with cheese on top.

In order for a music festival to be successful, this is what needs to be taken into account.

Location and infrastructure

While the idea of an ocean view or picturesque mountains in the back might sound lovely, the location of the festival needs to be accessible to all – which makes it one of the most important things to consider. Production trucks and people both have to be able get in and out of the grounds easily, with plenty of parking available to all.

Allowing flexibility in dimensions and design, temporary buildings from the likes of Neptunus are also a necessity when it comes to ensuring that a music festival is triumphant. These portable buildings can be tailored to meet all requirements and dismantled easily after they have been used.

Safety

Keeping people safe is the main priority in any big event. Festivalgoers need open space, access to resources and plenty of organisation. There should always be plenty of water and food available to them, so that they can stay hydrated and well-fed. Different areas of the festival should be effectively signposted, so that they can make their way easily.

Marketing

When organisers have gone to all the effort of planning a fantastic event, people need to hear about it! The marketing must be honest, providing individuals with the information about what they can expect from the music festival before they buy tickets. Utilise social media platforms, asking everyone to spread the word.
