Appeal after man dies in Devon crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died followng a collision near Barnstaple.

The car collided with a hedge and rolled on the B3232 between Charlacottt Cross and Prospect Corner near Newton Tracey at around 11.30am on Sunday 24 January.

The car involved was a blue and red DRK, a two-seated and three-wheeler open-top vehicle. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

The 58-year-old male driver, from Barnstaple, who was the only occupant in the car, died at the scene.

His next of kin has been informed but formal identification has not yet taken place.

Highways attended the scene to assist with road closures. The B3232 was closed for around five hours while a forensic examination of the scene took place.

An investigation is being carried out by the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact them on 101 quoting reference 293 of 24 January.
