Appeal for witnesses to fatal A377 crash

Police would like to speak to the driver of a white van who may have witnessed a fatal collision near Lapford on Tuesday 17 February.

The collision involved a Subaru Legacy which was travelling on the A377 from the Eggesford direction towards Lapford, when it left the road Nymet Cross, hitting a culvert wall and telegraph pole before hitting a tree.

The two male occupants of the Subaru were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

At this time no formal identification has been made on the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision.

The road was closed for seven and a half hours while a specialist forensic investigation of the scene took place.

Police officers from the serious collisions investigations are appealing for the driver of a white “box style” van to contact them.

The van would have been travelling on the A377 towards Crediton at the time of the collision.

The driver of this van is understood to have flashed their lights to on-coming vehicles, warning them of the collision ahead.

Police would like to speak to this driver as they may have important information about this incident.
