Artists to showcase fusion of art and fashion at Exeter networking event

Four friends with a “passion for fashion” have set up a company to encourage creative people to work with fashion designers.

TM – RK are hosting an art and fashion exhibition in Exeter to bring creative people together and open up opportunities for collaborative work.

University business student and founder of TM – RK, Ricardo Felgueiras, set up the company to encourage fashionistas, artists, tailors and designers to work within the fashion industry.

Ricardo works alongside university friend and model HIRO, tailor and business partner Thierry du-pont and artist Ian Perkins.

Ricardo, 21 and from Exeter, said: “We wanted to create an opportunity for young artists to network with fashion designers and to sell art to young collectors at a reasonable price. The idea is to create a networking platform where young artists can meet people from the fashion industry who design anything from street wear to high end fashion.”

As well as creating opportunities for other artists to realise their dreams of creating art for fashion, TM – RK are planning to launch their own “vintage gentlemen” menswear brand. The team are heading off to Paris at the end of this month and they hope to launch their range of men's accessories in the near future followed by clothing for men including blazers and suits.

Ricardo explained: “Our clothes are really about putting a vintage twist on modern fashion. Our clothes are about men dressing as gentlemen in shirts, ties, blazers and shoes. Much like art is reflected on a canvas, we want our creative personalities to be reflected in our clothes.”

He added: “We are also keen to work with fashion brands as their designers.”
The exhibition is being held on Saturday May 25 at Minerva Streetwear, 4 South Street in Exeter. The event starts at 8pm and finishes at 10pm. Various pieces of artwork will be auctioned off and attendees will be able to purchase Minerva clothing and fellow local brand Dream. TM – RK will also be giving out some branded T-shirts. Entrance is free, but a donation towards drinks, Italian style nibbles and exhibition costs would be appreciated.
