Axminster Community Hospital temporarily closed

Axminster Community Hospital has been temporarily closed (Monday 3rd October) due to a burst water main pipe in the cellar.

The flooding has caused some infrastructure damage, which has affected the hospital’s IT services and electricity supply. As a result, services at the hospital have been temporarily suspended.

Staff from the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust have been working on site this morning to resolve the situation as quickly as possible, with support from Northern Devon Healthcare Trust and other partner agencies. The Fire Service has also been in attendance to assist with pumping out the water.

Many outpatients clinics have already been rearranged at neighbouring community hospitals today however some appointments have regrettably been cancelled this week. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to patients during this time.

If you have an appointment at Axminster Hospital this week you will be contacted by a member of staff to rearrange your appointment as soon as possible.

For further information, please contact Gwen Park in the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust communications team on 01392 406941.
