Blow away the winter blues with Fun A Day Exeter
Fed up with dark mornings and wet weather? A launch project in Exeter could be just what you need to brighten your day.
Fun A Day was started in 2004 in Philadelphia, USA by a group of friends wanting to stay creative through the winter. It has since been adopted across the USA and has ventured as far as Dundee, Scotland. This year it hits Exeter. Exeter residents and recent imports Stephen Fisher and Ali Lucas are launching Fun A Day in Exeter, to be conducted through February with an exhibition at Positive Light Projects on 18-19th March, 2023.
The challenge is to create something every day for a month (draw, paint, photograph, colour, bake, whatever). What about going for a walk every day for a month? Perhaps simply play a game or make something with Lego every day. If you think you have what it takes, then consider joining the new Fun A Day Exeter project.
The Fun A Day concept is really simple; participants just do the same project every day throughout February and record it. The resulting 28 projects are then displayed in a group show in mid-March. Most importantly is that you don’t need to be an artist to participate, although artists are very welcome.
One past participant baked a different kind of scone each day. Another played a game of chess each day and displayed photos of the 28 chess games. Participants are only limited by their imagination and the need to keep things family friendly. Community involvement is always good, so working in groups or with friends is also encouraged. Check out the Fun A Day Exeter website, if you need more ideas.
There are no entry fees and no prizes, no age limit, and no exclusions. Just a creative spark to light the gloom of February.
To sign up is also straightforward (and required) - simply complete a short on-line registration form. Then spread the word and get friends on board.
