Charity shop partners with local businesses
The success of the specialist Furniture & Electrical store opened in Exeter by Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) is attributable in no small part to local businesses who are providing quality stock for onward sale to the general public and helping to spread the word.
Furniture Direct, student accommodation providers Victoria Hall at Printworks and Bishops Move have all supported the charity by donating items of furniture, end of line stock and other general donations, while Bensons Beds, Furniture Village, Harveys and Oak Furniture Land are all passing DAAT leaflets to their customers who can donate the furniture or white goods they intend to replace. In addition Haven Investments have helped with regard to additional storage space.
Martin Bell, DAAT Retail Director, said: “We opened the new Furniture & Electrical store in Summerland Street near Exeter Bus Station in June. It’s a new venture for us but it is professionally run by highly experienced and trained staff. It is a response to what customers want and we hope plenty of people will visit the new shop to see the range of quality goods and value for money prices we offer.
“However, its success is closely related to the partnerships we have forged with local businesses, some of whom donate stock and others who promote our service to their customers allowing us to pick up quality items from them as they refurbish their homes.
“We are incredibly grateful to these businesses. Their support represents businesses and the community working in harmony for the common good. It’s a win/win partnership with the ultimate beneficiaries being the people of Devon whom the Air Ambulance serves.”
