City businesses and partners join forces for Exeter’s Britain in Bloom competition entry

Exeter is looking blooming lovely this summer thanks to a city-wide effort to create a stunning Britain in Bloom entry.

With over 180 hanging baskets, raised beds and planters, a student herb garden, city bee project with five hives located in a rooftop garden, bikes in bloom, the creation of Exeter Wild City with Devon Wildlife Trust and well-maintained landscaped areas across the city, Exeter is championing how cities and green spaces can mix.

The floral spectacles are a result of InExeter, Co Create, Exeter College, Exeter City Council, Princesshay, Guildhall Shopping & Dining, and St Sidwell’s Community Centre coming together to enter this year’s Britain in Bloom competition.

The nationwide competition is about keeping towns and cities across the country in bloom throughout the year.

Ann Hunter, InExeter Manger, says “This is our first entry into the RHS Britain in Bloom competition and we’re delighted to showcase our investment in landscaping and planting in the city. Each year we install hanging baskets but this last year has seen us invest in more uplifting displays to add colour to our high streets and support nature. We are working closely with businesses and partners to add vibrancy, colour, life, horticulture, and planting to the city.”

Judging took place this month and winners will be announced in October.
