Two members of an Exeter drug gang jailed in April for conspiracy to supply drugs have now been served with Serious Crime Prevention Orders (SCPO’s).

Bret Seldon (also known as Bret Burgess), aged 33, of Briar Crescent, Exeter, and Richard Armitage, also aged 33, of Week St Mary, Holsworthy, were both jailed for five years and three months on 28th April at Exeter Crown Court having been convicted of conspiracy to supply amphetamine.

The convictions followed a successful covert policing operation undertaken by Zephyr anti-crime unit and Devon and Cornwall Police.

Following the convictions, investigating officers under Zephyr applied for Serious Crime Prevention Orders which were successfully granted at Exeter Crown Court on Wednesday 24th June and last for five years.

Following the hearing, DS Youngman commented: “Seldon and Armitage were controlling the commercial supply of drugs from Liverpool and Slough and did so to fund their lavish lifestyles, which included high performance vehicles, clothing, gadgets and gambling. They were organising the mixing of drugs to maximise their profit and would use others to sell these drugs.

He added: "These orders are a first for Devon & Cornwall Police and demonstrate how Local Policing, Regional Organised Crime Units and the Crown Prosecution Service will work together to ensure people involved in serious and organized criminality are heavily restricted in key areas upon their release from serving lengthy custodial sentences”.
