Uninsured drivers are a menace on British roads, but despite the fact that driving without insurance leads to 6 penalty points and a £300 fixed penalty some 473,564 drivers were caught out between 2010 and 2013 doing exactly that.

UK Claim Lawyers have come up with a useful infographic to help you understand just how much uninsured drivers cost us. It makes useful reading if you have recently requested an insurance quote and are wondering why the renewal price has jumped up!

As the infographic explains, uninsured drivers cost motorists around £380 million a year (or an extra £30 on your insurance policy).  It should also help you understand what happens if you are unfortunate enough to be in an accident with an uninsured driver. If you are, you can’t claim off their insurance policy.Instead a report will be compiled by the Motor Insurer’s Broker, who will compensate your own insurance company.
