Countryside volunteers raise money for Hospiscare
Staff and volunteers from Seaton Wetlands hosted a coffee morning in support of Hospiscare and raised more than £180 for the charity.
The event was well attended and included former BBC TV and Radio presenter Judi Spiers who is attending as many coffee mornings as possible during September for the Hospiscare charity, which support patients and the family and friends of those with a life limiting illness.
Seaton Wetlands volunteers baked a range of delicious cakes for the event. From raspberry cream to chocolate torte, there was something for everyone, including gluten free options. The cakes were served with a hot drink for a donation of £3 per person. The good weather meant visitors could choose whether to enjoy their refreshments with a view over the pond, in the picnic area or in the sheltered Reed Base.
Cllr Iain Chubb, East Devon District Council’s portfolio holder for the Environment, said: ‘’Seaton Wetlands is a beautiful wildlife site run by our Countryside team. The staff and volunteers wanted to support a local charity, and the coffee morning gave people the opportunity to socialise and relax in the natural environment, whilst supporting an important cause.’’
