Cullompton Scout Group celebrates move to new home
Scouts in the Cullompton area have a new long term home thanks to the work of five star housebuilder Barratt Homes.
Apprentices from the housebuilder, which this year celebrates its 60th anniversary, have built a brand new community hub for the scouts with the Cullompton Scout Centre officially handed over to the group at a recent opening ceremony.
And the new residents were full of praise for the new facility which can accommodate all 60 members of the group and has room for them to expand in the future.
Scout leaders James Buczkowski and Sarah Wyatt said they were thrilled and excited to move in and bring the different sections of their group together on a regular basis.
James said: “We can’t wait to hold our first Scout meeting in the new centre. The new hub will transform the group and the extra space gives us the opportunity to open a second Cub pack and Explorer Scout section.
“Historically, there have been Scouts in Cullompton for more than 100 years. It’s amazing we can continue the groups legacy in this fantastic new building,” he added.
The centre has been built entirely by Barratt Homes’ apprentices, a UK first, and is part of the Saxon Fields development.
Barratt Homes managing director Paul Moran, said: “We’re very proud of our apprentices for building such an excellent new facility for the Cullompton Scout Group. The centre is in the middle of the new homes at Saxon Fields, so it’s right at the heart of the community. We hope the Scouts and other local groups enjoy using it.”
