DAAT's Heavitree shop to reopen
Devon Air Ambulance Trust is delighted to be reopening their Heavitree, Exeter charity shop on Saturday 6 December at 10am.
Martin Bell, Retail Director of Devon Air Ambulance Trust said “We are often asked why we spend money on refurbishing our shops. There are many reasons for this. In the case of our Heavitree shop we are at the end of the current lease so we are obliged to ensure that the premises are fit for purpose. We plan to continue trading from these premises for many years to come. Therefore at the same time replacing the lighting and heating to low running cost efficient alternatives also in the long run saves the Charity money.”
He added “We have also been able to address challenging working conditions and ensure we are protecting our staff and volunteers as well as enhancing the shopping environment for our supporters. This includes utilising every space to its full advantage, eg the sorting and stocking areas off the shop floor.”
The Trust’s Volunteer Support Officer, Rosey Oakes, added “We are also looking for volunteers to help in the shop. There are loads of really good reasons to volunteer. If you’re looking for a job it’s great for your CV and your confidence – you’ll be learning new skills and dealing with lots of different people and situations. For those new to the area it’s a great way to meet people and make new friends. And don’t forget the feel-good factor you get from knowing you are doing something to help others!”
If you can offer any time to DAAT then please pop into the shop and talk to Angie or Sue, or email Rosey at r.oakes@daat.org
Why not pop into the shop on Saturday and take a look for yourself at the improvements made and pick up a few bargains and Christmas presents too!
